An artist’s voice is visual, but if no one sees it, it can’t be
heard. Inspired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s art engagement
book, the CAC Fine Art of Park Cities / Fine Art in Dallas book made
its debut in November 2006. 12,000 books, representing 73 artist’s
works in 100 color plates, were delivered to residents in University
Park and Highland Park, at no charge. The next year, with 100 local
artists in the book, 15,000 were delivered including Greenway Park
and a large section of Preston Hollow, as well as the Park Cities.
In addition to regular meetings and exhibitions for the artists
throughout the year, the annual event has been hosted by the Park
Cities Hilton.
Sharing art and giving back has become the CityArtCal mantra.
$5000.00 in art awards were presented to HPISD seniors in May 2007.
As a grassroots effort, not only has the project brought a
voice to local artists, it is being heard across the United States
and on three continents. | |
